A collaboration between Middleton Made Knives (USA) and Vulpex Knives.

The VK-FERO is a very special project for me. It is the result of a unique connection across continents, built over years of mutual respect and fascination for each other’s work. One day Quintin asked me if I would be willing to collaborate on a project with the vision to create a classy, elegant, highly useful, and versatile gentleman's tool for different tasks, hands and environments. As you know me.. "Challenge accepted!"

My goal now was to combine both of our same but different worlds into one functional piece of understatement.

With Quintin’s strong background in crafting professional kitchen knives, I wanted to do justice to that by creating my first hollow grind. This very intentional thin blade geometry not only improves slicing performance at a very high level, but also reduces food sticking to the concave shaped blade, making it perform just as well in the kitchen as in everyday use, whether at home, outdoors or during a simple office break after a meeting to cut your apple and get you some vitamins.

It was important to me to concept this tool accessible for many different users, with different hands, tastes and use cases! We wanted a well performing, comfortable, well sized but still with understatement, timeless, highly functional and long lasting cutting tool. 

VK-FERO’s modular concept allows both function and appearance to be adapted and customized to each personal preference. Interchangeable scale sets, an ambidextrous clip system, good working size and its multi-deployment design aim to make it a reliable companion in any situation. To underline this project's goal, I wanted to choose corrosion-resistant materials with different surface finishes to be able to adapt even to harder or wet uses, for long-lasting performance and durability. I created an innovative clip system to easily use the clip on both sides and still have a clean look to it.

And maybe, just maybe, there will be some interesting add-ons for you soon to pimp this fella as you wish it to be and hopefully make this knife become its users best companion!

Why FERO?
Its name is inspired by the Latin word "ferrum", which means "iron". Since Quintin and I have experience in forging in the fire to form something useful, it had to match this spirit. In addition, FERO is the short form for "Feridun", which means "unique". And in some European countries its name is associated with the meaning of "the peaceful one", "the protector" ... I think you maybe can feel and see why it has this name now!

I am proud and thankful for this opportunity and result, forming a never ending bond abroad continents from now on.

It is different origins, but the same passion that now united in this unique production design.
